A modern-day nomad, FanessDotl was born in Virginia but soon found himself in the heart of New York City. From there he made his home in a variety of states, but currently calls Jacksonville, Florida home - for now. His vagabond lifestyle and musical know-how helped in the creation of the artist he is today.
With a myriad of locales; and steadily increasing talents under his belt, he has been able to touch base with hip-hop scenes all over.His versatility has allowed him to engulfed multitudes of styles in the world of hip-hop, but ultimately his lyrical prowess are at the heart of his game. He notes, “I'm a lyricist that likes to find different ways to use words and make them say two and three different things at the same time. I admire a melodic sound and some would say I'm mellow-hype.”
Knowing there’s no shame in the hustle, FanessDotl started selling CDs out of his trunk in 2005. From the trunk of his car to the number one spot on NumberoneMusic.com. FanessDotl has made huge strides as an independent artist. With six albums to his name, including 2017’s The Norrin Radd Project Vol.2 Silver Surf'n. He’s managed to win crowds over up and down the east coast and beyond with his empowering lyrics and thought provoking metaphorical word play.
He’s been through a lot in life and conveys that with such tenacity and finesse, that the fans he’s gained and the ones that continue to catch wind have no trouble connecting when they hear his music. People have found themselves in songs such as “Norrin Radd.” A song FanessDotl notes he penned when he doubted himself as much as those around him did. He’s also gotten even more personal with his reality based “Too Busy.” The second single from his 2017 release was written right after he stepped out of jail. FanessDotl remembers the day he wrote it, “The song speaks about me making a business out of my dreams. At the time I felt very passionate about going forward in my career. It stemmed from the thought of being set up and put in jail, and my lack of trust for others and also what I planned to do about it.”
Not planning on returning to a life behind bars, only one that requires him to drop beats this emcee is looking forward to the future. One that holds more records and many more performances. He’s played all over Florida, Virginia and North Carolina. In the new year, he plans to add to that list and drop a new EP by the time the clock strikes midnight on December 2018
